Install the McAfee Agent (MA) on the systems you intend to manage with ePolicy Orchestrator versions 4.0 or 4.5. Note: If you are installing the McAfee Agent 4.5 for use with ePolicy Orchestrator 4.0, you must first apply ePO Patch 4. McAfee Agent 4.5 improves performance of policy enforcement, implements cross-platform process-to-process communication, and supports the new features of ePolicy Orchestrator 4.5.

The McAfee Agent 4.5 Release Candidate version includes these new features:

o An updated McAfee System Tray Icon that provides improved user interface on managed systems

o An Update Now feature in ePolicy Orchestrator 4.5 that provides support for manual updates

o Improved performance during policy enforcement

o Improved methodology for identifying nearby subnets

o Compatibility with Data Execution Prevention (DEP)

o Support for agent handler (load balancing)

o Support for Internet Protocol v6 (IPv6) networks

o Support for selective updating

o Support for policy assignment rules (user-based policies)
